How We Got Here
We’ve ALL been there…
First it’s just you - not a big deal if paying yourself sometimes doesn’t happen or isn’t quite on time. THEN - you expand - you decide you want to GROW and increase your impact by growing your team and you are suddenly faced with the steep learning curve of payrolls, commission based or session splits, benefits…whew! As therapists, we can feel out of our comfort zone and underprepared.
Weston knew that every payroll Mandy was stressed - wanting to make sure her employees were paid not only on time, but CORRECTLY. Between complicated spreadsheets with too much data, copy/paste problems and difficulties with formulas, her current process was riddled with the potential for errors and a HUGE time suck. Every payroll Mandy was spending at least an hour making sure her employee splits were applied correctly, other line items (MN provider tax!) were accounted for and that the data was sorted per employee so it could be properly shared with each team member. Weston applied his knowledge in computer systems and coding to create a custom solution for her business. What previously took an hour now took minutes. The time saved twice a month freed Mandy up for other endeavors to support her practice. The time spent and accuracy concerns that had previously bogged her down are no longer of concern.
From there Mindful Solutions was born. It’s name is in part a nod to the mindfulness components of Mandy’s business (ie: doing things with all of your attention) and a desire to support others with real solutions.
Weston’s deep knowledge of data + Mandy’s clinical and business acumen spurred the idea to support others in their payroll practices (and other behind the scenes spreadsheet shenanigans). Weston (he/him/his) is an analyst at Mayo Clinic. He works within their health system to find ways to optimize existing processes related to data and internal and external communications. Weston's focus on improving existing systems makes him a desired leader in the healthcare industry. Using knowledge from over 10 years of technology based support he knows how to safely and efficiently manipulate data in a way that is accessible for even the most tech averse people. If you have data or spreadsheets that you just don’t get - he’s your guy to help you sort it out!
Mandy (she/her/hers) is a therapist who owns a growing psychotherapy practice in Coon Rapids. Through her growth she has navigated adding employees (and therefore payroll), benefits and build outs of their space through expansion. Her combination of clinical and business knowledge allows her to provide practical knowledge to those interested in growing their private practice.
